Vintage Stocklots Guide
Vintage clothing grades explained
A practical explanation of common vintage clothing grade terms and why buyers should confirm each seller’s grading standard.
Marketplace note: Vintage Stocklots provides the marketplace. Stocklots are offered by independent sellers, and buyers and sellers agree transaction, payment and transport terms directly with each other.
Grade A
Often used for cleaner, more wearable stock with fewer obvious defects, but there is no universal grading standard across the industry.
Grade B
Often includes more visible wear, marks, repairs or defects. The exact tolerance differs by seller and category.
Mixed or unsorted
Can contain a wider range of condition and styles. Buyers should ask how the lot was sourced and whether any sorting has already taken place.
Always confirm the seller’s definition
Treat the grade as a seller-provided description, not a universal guarantee. Request representative media and written condition details before purchasing.
